Il Lavatoio is a wonderfull place just above the old town of Castel di Sangro. The town is typical Italian, cosy and enough bars and restaurants. The breakfast was lovely.

A nice, comfortable, very clean and well-designed, almost new (three years) countryside family hotel. In the hotel loby there is a reconstruction of historic elements of the ancient city of Castel de Sangeo - the laundry (lavatoio) where the village women used to come to wash cloths. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, ready to help and anxious to satisfy. Breakfasat is excellent. A good location for exploring the abruzzo region and national park.
The hotel is located in the old part of Castel de Sangro. It is hard to find it without detailed directions (may be a little map showing the route from the main square up to the hotel.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel right at home. the breakfast was delicious, with freshly baked croissants and a wide variety of options to choose from. We also loved the convenient location, close to great restaurants and some interesting sights.
The noise from the nearby bells was a bit overwhelming at times, especially during the night. the rooms could have been a bit more spacious, although they were well-maintained and clean.

We selected the hotel primarily based on location and were pleasantly surprised. This was one of the best experiences of our 2-week trip. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff could not be more accomodating. We would definitely recommend it.
